Custom HVAC design and installation for a new 22,000 sq ft fire station with specialized ventilation for apparatus bay, living quarters, and training areas.
The Challenge
A new fire station required sophisticated HVAC design to handle multiple distinct spaces with different requirements: the apparatus bay needed high-capacity exhaust for diesel fumes, living quarters needed comfort-focused climate control for 24-hour crew shifts, and training areas needed reliable systems for equipment and personnel.
Our Solution
We designed a multi-zone system with separate air handling for each functional area. The apparatus bay features dedicated 100% exhaust ventilation with makeup air systems to control diesel fumes. Living quarters use mini-split systems for quiet comfort and efficiency. Training areas use traditional rooftop units with supply and return air balancing.
Scope of Work
Complete HVAC design for 22,000 sq ft facility, apparatus bay exhaust and makeup air systems, living quarters mini-split installation, training area rooftop unit installation, ductwork throughout facility, controls integration with fire alarm system, full system startup and training.
Results & Outcomes
Station personnel reported excellent comfort in living quarters and training areas. Apparatus bay diesel fume control exceeded EPA standards. System flexibility allows for future expansion. First-year maintenance costs were minimal due to high-quality installation and commissioning.
