Gold's Gym Rooftop Installation
High-capacity rooftop HVAC installation for Gold's Gym in American Fork, designed to handle the intense cooling demands of a busy athletic facility.
The Challenge
Athletic facilities present unique HVAC challenges: high occupancy levels, significant internal heat generation from exercise equipment and patrons, and the need for exceptional ventilation. The existing system was undersized and could not maintain comfortable temperatures during peak usage hours.
Our Solution
We installed high-capacity rooftop units sized for peak athletic facility loads, combined with enhanced ventilation systems to ensure fresh air circulation meets ASHRAE standards for gym environments. The new units feature variable-speed fans that automatically adjust to occupancy levels, reducing energy waste during off-peak hours.
Scope of Work
Removal of undersized existing rooftop units, crane installation of new high-capacity RTUs, ductwork modifications for improved air distribution, enhanced ventilation and fresh air intake systems, controls programming with occupancy-based scheduling, and full commissioning.
Results & Outcomes
Member complaints about temperature dropped to near zero. The facility can now maintain comfortable temperatures even at peak capacity. Energy costs actually decreased 15% despite the larger system capacity, thanks to variable-speed fan technology and smart scheduling.
